Driving Test Car Hire

So, you want to hire a car for your driving test what should you expect. Firstly, it’s important to note that the more time you spend practicing in a particular vehicle you generally will increase your chances of passing the driving test.

Remember even experienced drivers can take time to become familiar with a new vehicle so if you can, give yourself enough time to get some practice in. We include a 2-hour assessment prior to authorising the car to be rented for the driving test. This 2-hour assessment also doubles as a lesson as in our experience most customers need coaching and advice prior to taking their driving test.

Once we have confirmed our availability for the date and time of your driving test your instructor will contact you to arrange your appointment for your driving assessment.

This driving assessment is great preparation for your driving test as it simulates the experience of the real driving test you are about to experience. So, what does the assessment involve? In simple terms your instructor is looking for you demonstrate your knowledge of the rules of the road and the skills required to drive competently with proper regard to the safety of you, your passengers and other road users. In over 90% of assessments the vehicle will be offered for hire.

On the day of your test your instructor will meet you one hour prior to your driving test time at your chosen RSA test centre. From here you will go over the final preparations required for both the technical checklist and on road driver ability test. Remember we want you to pass first time and have the experience and skill to help you achieve this. The process of booking and paying for a driving test and lessons including vehicle hire can be an expensive one so it makes sense for you to prepare correctly before taking the test. If you have access to a vehicle practice, practice practice! If you don’t have access to a vehicle, try to budget to get enough lessons to get you test ready.
